Natural Born Sinners!

Have you noticed just how naughty little children can be? Have you asked , “Who taught these kids to disobey their parents…to lie…or to steal?” The Bible tells us that it’s our sinful rebellious hearts that leads us to do bad things. One of the words for sin means “to miss the goal.” God created us to reach the ultimate goal-the goal of reflecting his love and holiness in the world! But, sadly, so often we seem to miss the target.

Romans 3:10-20 and v23, the bible speaks on this subject. God searches deeper than our achievements, looks and personalities. He sees minds that don’t understand him. Verses 10 and 11 respectively the bible says, “As it is written: “There is no one righteous, not even one; there is no one who understands, no one who seeks God.” He sees hearts that have turned away, he hears words that are dishonest and hurtful, he sees pain, sometimes self-inflicted. He observes that we have no peace or fear of God in us.

How does God respond to sin? He judges us according to his perfect law which mirrors his own holiness. Verses 19 the bible says, “Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God.” All of us have sinned, falling short of God’s perfect standard.

Many at times we wonder if God is mean to judge our sins? The answer is No. Injustice happens when judges let the guilty off or treat certain people different. God makes sure that justice happens. He lets no one get away from their deserved punishment. He judges according to unchanging law that are based on his unchanging holiness.

Romans 2:5, The bible says, Because of your stubbornness and  your unrepentant hearts, you are storing up wrath against yourself for the day of God’s wrath, when his righteous judgement will be revealed.
